Traditional set of wooden dominoes hand-crafted from whisky barrel staves. Presented in a wooden box with sliding lid. The staves come from ex-whisky barrels and therefore without the addition of wax or polish the aroma of the scotch whisky remains while you play.
As staves vary in width around and across a barrel so will the dominoes; stave widths have been chosen to reflect the standard domino length.

  • Your dominoes are hand-made in Scotland using oak whisky barrel staves from the great Scottish distilleries. The barrels used to make your dominoes have been tucked away in whisky storage bonds for up to 50 years, quietly soaking up the tradition of whisky production, and the warmth and spice of the maturing spirit. Your dominoes have a natural finish, retaining decades of whisky bond storage deep in the grain of the playing surface and showing the charred wood of the underside. The wood of the barrel combines with each distillery’s unique 'new make’ spirit to produce the complex whisky flavours that we all love. This charring combines in the barrel with each distilleries unique 'new make’ spirit to produce the complex whisky flavours that we all love.

Above all, the natural finish of your dominoes reveals the complex scent of years of Scottish whisky gently steeping into each oak barrel stave.

Wood, fire and whisky make your dominoes proudly Scottish.

Play with the spirit of Scotland.

    Slàinte mhath, my friends.

  • The Rules of The Game (2-4 Players)

    START

The dominoes are shuffled face down. Each player takes 6 dominoes and places them so that the other players cannot see. The first person to play is that person holding the double-six, or failing that the double-five and so on. The domino played must be that double. If none of the players hold a double, then the dominoes are reshuffled and taken again.

    PLAY

Moving clockwise, each player in turn plays a domino, positioning it so that it touches either end of the domino chain. A player may only play a domino which has a matching number showing at either end of the domino chain. Unless the domino is a double, it can be placed square in any one of the three directions as long as the two matching sides are touching fully. Doubles are always placed across the end of the chain with the next domino played also touching the double at its middle. If a player can lay a domino, then it must be played, otherwise the play passes to the next player. If a player has only one domino left after their turn they tap the domino on the table to show the other players.

    END

The game stops when a player places their last domino. If it reaches a point at which no player can place a domino, the winner is the player with the lowest number of spots on their remaining dominoes.
